Combined Honours: For each subject, pre-final year contributes up to 30% towards your final degree classification. For some subjects, the placement year will constitute part of this element, 30-50% of your overall assessment will be by continuous assessment, depending on your particular subjects. In Biology the first year is broadly based, the second and third years incorporate more advanced modules, and the final year incorporates an individual dissertation. There is the option to take a year out in a paid professional placement. Graduates are eligible for Graduate Membership of the Institute of Biology (GIBiol). As a Sociology student you will be trained in techniques of sociological research and analysis, and will gain a solid understanding of their application in organisational, environmental and academic contexts. You will further your knowledge of the development of British society, and make comparisons with other industrialised countries.
